Seller Insight:
Favourite room in the house?
By far my favourite room in the house is the kitchen, if you can't cook in this kitchen you can't cook! My wife chooses the main bedroom with its beautiful en-suite.
Next ideal owner?
With listed buildings you never really own them you just look after them until the next 'owner' comes along, so someone who will take good care of the house, love it and enjoy it as much as we do.
What do you love most about the house?
It's a beautiful place to live which really comes alive when we have family and friends around us, a fantastic place to spend Christmas.
What do you love about the local community?
A really friendly village with some great characters and a lovely warm welcoming pub with great food!
How easy is it to commute from here?
Surprisingly very easy to commute from here, you can be in the city of London within 2 hours, or Heathrow within 1 1/2 hours and within easy reach of the M3, M4 and M5. Of course always good when you are travelling back!
Why did you choose this property over others?
The house was very different when we bought it but it was just the prettiest cottage we had ever seen.
Accommodation Summary:
Ground Floor:
The light entrance hall sets the scene as you enter the grade II listed Fir Tree Cottage. One can immediately see the detail the current owners have gone to, with antique style brass light switches, reproduction cast-iron radiator and a contemporary palate combining seamlessly with the older traditional elements of the property such as the exposed timber beams. The well-presented sitting room features a gorgeous inglenook fireplace with exposed brick, fitted with log burner, perfect for those cosy evenings. The bright dining room is equally beautifully presented and features useful alcoves for storage. The kitchen here forms part of the recent extension, and combines a range of built in units with stone worktops. Double doors open onto the patio and a useful utility room is adjacent.
First Floor:
The well finished interiors continue on the first floor, with 4 superb bedrooms. The principal bedroom features a wonderful balcony overlooking the generous garden as well as large ensuite shower room. The 3 further bedrooms are served by the family bathroom.
Annexe:
Stairs to the side of the garage give access to the self-contained 1 bedroom annexe. With fitted kitchen/reception and bedroom with shower room, this offers excellent ancillary accommodation to the main house, and could be utilised by guests or used to generate an income from letting either on a holiday or long let basis.
Outside:
The property is discreetly positioned with hedging to the front offering excellent privacy. The gated driveway provides parking for several vehicles in addition to the single garage and double car port. The exquisite grounds extend to approximately 1/3 acre with a summer house and views towards the surrounding countryside.
